Polis Square 2018

Project name:  Polis Square proposal for the Höfðatorg Sculpture Competition 2018.

Concept:  Patterned tiles are sequenced from the ground blueprint of the buildings on the development side. Höfðatorg is one of Iceland’s tallest buildings. However, its location comes with a unique challenge - the formation of strong and potentially hazardous wind tunnels around the building. Rather than simply addressing this problem, I proposed to create an innovative artwork that enhances the beauty of the building and surrounding area. The idea was to create an artwork that could be enjoyed by the tenants of the towers from various angles in the development. Rather than a sculpture with limited visitors, the concept is a work of art that complements the building’s impressive architecture and can be viewed from above.  By working with the building’s natural environment and architecture, the artwork will blend seamlessly into the surroundings and offer a unique and captivating perspective

Material: Tiles
